Obama vs. Trump

Which is better: The Pretty Lies of the Obama Era or the Ugly Truth of the Trump Era?

This is a question I stumbled upon one day when surfing facebook.  Talk about a loaded question.   How would you answer it?

I would have to start with Donald Trump, who has lied so many times that there are actual organizations counting his false statements.  According to the Washington Post, Trump has made 8,718 false or misleading claims in 759 days.[1]

Trump isn’t the first president to lie or mislead the public, and he certainly won’t be the last.  Except U.S. Presidents have historically stopped communication on a particular subject once aware of the truth (or a new piece of information), but not Trump.   Even when faced with evidence on the contrary, he’ll stand his ground and wage his innocence and blame any misfortune on others.

When we investigate this question of lies or truth further, “In his first 10 months in office, he (Trump) has told 103 separate untruths, many of which repeatedly.  Obama told 18 his entire eight-year tenure.  That’s an average of about two a year for Obama and about 124 a year for Trump,” according to the New York Times.[2]

Trump is also known as the most open racist man to ever hold the office.  Which brings me to Obama – why is it that Trumper’s are constantly comparing Trump to Obama? When I see questions like these arise on social media, I have to wonder if they are racially motivated to begin with.

I mean, if I was to compare Trump to any president, it would be G.W. Bush.  Bush’s ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction,’ has got to top the list of the biggest falsehoods of all. We basically went to war over absolutely nothing.  Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and they damn sure didn’t have any WMD’S.   Imagine all the lives lost over that lie; we’re talking about hundreds of thousands of lives lost.  In comparison, when counting the lost of life, G.W. has Trump looking like a saint at this point.

But no, you Trump supporters are always calling out Obama, the black man.  And to further the racist agenda, you complain about the southern border (brown man) with no regard what-so-ever to the northern (white man) border – what, like you don’t think a terrorist is smart enough to fly to Canada to cross into America?  Or like Canadian’s don’t do drugs?

And before you go pegging me as a Liberal Democrat, I’ll have you know that I did not vote for Obama either time.  But my reservations with Obama had nothing to do with the color of his skin or the origins of his last name.  To me he was a weak person, and it showed.  To me, he was the puppet president, and he most certainly had his embarrassments as well.  Like NDAA.

It was Obama, who use to teach Constitutional Law, and swore to defend the Constitution of the United States, who signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012.  This law, which is resigned every year as part of the military budget, authorizing the military to arrest and detain anyone suspected of being a terrorist indefinitely, without a trial, including American citizens.  It is a direct violation of Amendment V and XIV of the U.S. Constitution (your right to a trial; a speedy trial).  Yet the courts cannot rule on NDAA, if you’re being held indefinitely without a trial to begin with.  No trial, no ruling.  You become imprisoned for the rest of your life without any defense.

So when asked if I prefer the pretty lies of the Obama administration , or the ugly truth of the Trump era, I would have to say they are one in the same, only one has more class than the other.

You're What?

When I was a kid my momma told me that I could be a good person, or I could be a bad girl.    The choice was mine.   But what’s good in one persons mind may not be so hot from another’s perspective.   Kind of like Democrats and Republicans - depending on which side you’re on, depends on who is good and who is bad, from an individual perspective that is.   Some of us hear the words Conservative or Republican and right away an image of some rich, stiff lip, gun toting, racist, bible thumpin’, white guy comes to mind.   And still, when others hear Liberal or Democrat the illusion flips to the brown, lazy, impoverished, free loading, gay, baby killer.   It would be comical, except there are quite a few of us who seriously prescribe to this silly way of classifying each other.    This classification of government representatives is a false façade to say the least anyway.   Like did you know it was actually George W. Bush who implemented...

What Is Said, by Hope Wabuke

The following was taken from the book, "All The Women In My Family Sing."  It was written by Hope Wabuke.                   On June 16, 1944, George Stinney, a fourteen year old Black boy, was executed by the state of South Carolina for the murder of two white girls.   George was so short that he carried a Bible to use as a booster seat for the electric chair.   He was so young that the death mask would not fit his face.   He took five full minutes to die, the mask slipping off to show his eyes melting and his body convulsing.               There was no evidence that George had committed the murders.   There were no actual witnesses to the murders – in fact, George had an alibi for the whole day in question.   The “confession,” which George denied having made and which had not been recorded or...

Why I Do Not Support Trump

“ I like my Presidents to not associate with foreign entities to better themselves. I also like them to not sit on the shitter tweeting in the middle of the night. I like them not to call Dictators his best friend and our allies our enemies. I like someone that can take criticism and not start name calling and throwing twitter melt downs every time he doesn't get his way. I like presidents that don't say they would date their daughter. I like Presidents that haven't filed bankruptcy 5 times and screwed over working class people doing it. I like Presidents that don't give themselves and their billionaire friends a windfall tax break and then cry about immigration now when it was happening and could have been handled under a fully GOP government for 2 years. I like Presidents that don't call war hero's weak. I like Presidents that don't speak ill of the deceased war veterans of this country. I like Presidents that didn't draft dodge.   Is that e...
